How online casinos entice new business

The UK online casino industry is big business worth over £2.0 bn with hundreds of different operators. With so much competition we take a look how the best preforming sites manage to entice new business.

Most online casino and slot sites offer some kind of incentive for new players to join. Here we take a look at some of those new player incentives.

Free Spins & No Deposit Offers

When it comes to the free spins and no deposit offers that are available, all casinos have different terms and conditions. Some offer up to 50 free spins with no deposit required & players can keep what they win, others will require you to wager your winnings a certain number of times, so make sure you check this out beforehand.

What are the different types of casino offers?

There are many factors that have contributed to the rise of the online casino. The dominance of this internet phenomenon has also had knock-on effects for the consumer as well in the form of bonuses.

The abundance of online casinos means that they all have to fight against one and other to win your services. They do this by offering exceptional bonus deals, including free spins, no deposit deals and much more. This gives you the opportunity to make your money go a lot further and so it is definitely recommended that you keep an eye out for good deals. Luckily, you don’t need to go searching through every individual online casino to find the best bonuses as there are many reputable casino comparison sites with full listings and reviews.

Read on to discover more information regarding the various bonuses that are available for individuals who like to play slot machine games on the internet.

Welcome bonuses

The majority of online casinos offer a welcome bonus for new customers. This encourages people to use the casino in question because they know they will get a free £20 (for example) if they sign up. This is a great way of getting started.

Typically you have two different types of welcome bonuses. Firstly you have the no deposit bonus. This bonus gifts a certain amount of money for simply signing up, which is the exact category that the 50 free spins with no deposit offers fall into. You don’t have to enter your card details or deposit anything else. All you need to do is sign up to one of the casinos and you are going to receive 50 free spins as a gift to enjoy.

The other type of welcome bonus is when the casino offers to match your initial deposit. For instance, if you deposit £50 they will give you £50 free of charge, taking your balance to £100. This is will be capped at a certain amount. After all, there is no casino that is going to match a £100,000 deposit if somebody makes one – although there’s no harm in asking we suppose!

Refer a friend

Referring a friend is something we see rewarded by all companies; from gaming sites to online clothing stores. If someone signs up to a website because you have recommended it to them you will receive a bonus. When it comes to online casinos you will typically be rewarded with an amount of free game play or cash to play slot machine games with. How will the company know that you have referred the person in question? Typically you will be given a unique URL that your friend must usewhen signing up or they will have to enter a code you have provided them with.

Loyalty bonuses

The third and final bonus is the loyalty bonus. This is used to reward existing players. A lot of companies opt to go for a point scheme. This means individuals will get points every time they play an online slot. At the end of the month, the amount of points you have will be turned into cash and then deposited into your playing account. It is important to think about your current customer base and keep them happy, and that is exactly what a loyalty bonus does.

As you can see by the three bonuses that have been mentioned; there is something for everybody. It doesn’t matter whether you are playing slot games for the first time or the thousandth time; you will still be able to locate some great deals and discounts.

#1: Always avoid using backgrounds

You will want to create a look that can fit any background or at least most backgrounds. Use a logo maker that allows you have your logo in different files; jpg, png, pdf, AI, and many more. That way, you will have an HD logo that can work for any of your brand materials.

#3: Don’t use hard-to read fonts

The flat design trend is enough for you. Don’t include any crazy fonts on your logo. They are always heavy and difficult to read. So avoid them. Use a easy-to-read fonts like Cinzel font.

#4: Make sure your logo is not confusing

A bad logo is one that has too many cartoons and elements that don’t easily glue, so avoid that kind of logo. Make a very simple logo with a clear message.

#5: Using a slogan is a good idea

Sometimes, you may need to use a slogan on your logo. This is especially important if you are using initials as your company logo or running a small business that nobody knows what you are doing. Use a short but catchy slogan that gives good insight into what you do in your company.

UKGC clamps down on free play casino games to curb under-age gambling

UK Gambling Commission reminds gambling operators of the importance of age verification checks for free-to-play games on affiliate websites.

New regulation for age verification checks at online gambling sites came into play on 7th May 2019. The regulation sought to protect vulnerable people, including minors and those with gambling problems, from the potential dangers of real money gambling. Under the new rules, gambling sites must verify customers’ identity before they can deposit, gamble, claim bonuses or play free games.

Neil McArthur, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission, said that these changes were “intended to protect children better, reduce the risks to vulnerable consumers and build on the measures we already impose on operators to know their customers and intervene at an earlier stage before consumers experience harm.”

However, this regulation didn’t contain explicit provision for free-to-play casino games available at affiliate marketing websites.

It could be argued that the discrepancy came because the new age verification regulation applied to UKGC licence holders- a licence that isn’t legally relevant to affiliate marketers in the gambling industry.

However, with a 2018 report by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) finding that 13% of young people aged 11 to 16 have played gambling-style games online, it’s apparent that more needs to be done to prevent young people from accessing these games.

Reinforced Guidelines

On 1st July, the UK Gambling Commission released a statement clearing up the discrepancy. The statement made reference to the Social Responsibility codes detailed in the Commission’s Licensing Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), a document with which all UK-licensed gambling operators must comply.

The statement reiterated phrases in code 1.1.2 that “Licensees are responsible for the actions of any third parties with whom they contract.” It also pointed out that licensees must hold third parties accountable as if “as if they were bound by the same licence conditions and subject to the same codes of practice as the licensee.” These echoes of the LCCP demonstrate that, while the third-party affiliates aren’t held accountable for minors accessing the free games, the gambling operator is.

Of course, this need for age verification is nothing new; it has been detailed in the LCCP since its most recent edition released on 7th May. The statement follows a list of changes to regulation concerning consumer protection in the gambling industry and is simply a reiteration of details that UK-licensed gambling operators should already understand.

Immediate Action Required

Given that the regulation on age verification has been in place since the beginning of May, the UKGC recognises the urgency for a change to the availability of free-play casino games. The Commission has urged operators to take immediate action with affiliates that are not already compliant with these reinforced guidelines.

A gambling operator’s failure to ensure its UK-facing affiliates abide by these guidelines could result in regulatory penalties for non-compliance with the LCCP.

Age Verification Process Unclear

The Commission has not given specific guidelines on how affiliates should conduct this age verification, but has stipulated that “it must be robust enough to ensure the licensee that the customer exists and that they are 18 or over.”

While this need for age verification only applies to consumer-facing affiliates, B2B licensees are still expected to cooperate with B2C counterparts to prevent young people from accessing free casino games.

Exactly how the Commission will take action on operators found to be in relationships with non-compliant affiliates is yet to be seen, but with industry regulation tightening across all avenues of the gambling industry, it’s clear that consumer protection is more important than ever before.

How digital marketing teams can cut costs

When a marketing budget is bursting at the seams, it can be tempting to make big changes, but these are more like knee-jerk reactions than strategic decisions.

It may be that cuts are necessary for some areas, but before you make any drastic cuts to your team’s resources or consider losing staff, try not to panic. It’s likely that several smaller changes will add up to a more significant saving than you might think.

Making your current processes more efficient and giving employees the tools they need to improve productivity can have significant benefits. Here’s how digital marketing teams may be able to cut costs in simple but effective ways.

Embrace Automated Marketing

A big drainer of time in marketing is the small tasks which eat into your day and prevent you from focusing on the activities that result in profits. Luckily, there are lots of tools now which take a lot of the administration away from your day via automation. There are plenty of social media scheduling tools available, and these can manage your communications and publish content at the best time.

There are also chatbots which can respond to frequently asked customer questions. Mailchimp and Marketo enable you to create and send email campaigns to a schedule and feedback the key statistics so you can analyze its success. Automation and artificial intelligence is not a replacement for humans, but it can definitely take the strain off and give your staff more time to focus on what makes the business profitable.

Don’t Work Harder, Work Smarter

This is particularly relevant to marketing agencies, but it’s also a good lesson for any marketing team. Make your interactions with clients as meaningful as possible by ensuring both you and them are working towards the same objective and tracking the same measures of success. When you do meet to discuss progress on a specific project, you need to be on the same page and can understand exactly what matters to your client from the outset.

In terms of team communication, try to reduce the number of trivial emails by introducing instant messaging tools like Slack, which will streamline inboxes and keep projects flowing.

Find Cheaper Office Supplies

Even digital companies need office supplies, and all too often, we spend too much on the products we use. It could be because we are convinced certain brands are better than others simply because they charge more, or it could be because we have been with the same supplier for a long time and just accepted the price increases. It’s always worth taking some time to shop around and see if you can find a better deal. Visit www.cartridgepeople.com to see if you could be paying less for paper, ink, toner, computer accessories, and stationery.

Target Your Strategy

You could spend a fortune on marketing and generating sales leads, but if the people you’re attracting to your business aren’t likely to buy from you, you’re going to be wasting money. You may be targeting an audience which is too broad, so consider looking at more concentrated, smaller segments. Your audience research should be based on data and not assumptions, but make sure you’re looking at more than age range or professions.

Customer insights should also include buying habits and lifestyle information such as the TV shows they like to watch. It will enable you to create a more bespoke marketing campaign which is more likely to return new customers. Consider using online surveys and customer interviews to gather this information and use it to create customer personas. You will be able to increase your customer understanding on a deeper level.

Lose What’s Not Working

Not every marketing channel is the right fit for every business. For example, many companies spend a lot of time working on creating content for social media platforms when, in reality, this is not where their target customers will be found. You may be spending a week or two collating a monthly email newsletter which doesn’t actually result in any extra business or engagement.

Take an objective look at all your channels and see which is most profitable. That’s where you should be investing your time. You don’t necessarily need to stop using the underperforming channels altogether, but you should make sure you’re using your time and money wisely.

Use Free Marketing Tools

Digital marketing is simply bursting with new online tools and platforms designed to help both agencies and companies to improve their operation. This could be a tool for keyword research like answerthepublic.com or an email marketing platform. Some tools require a subscription fee to open up all their functionality, service support, and intuitive interfaces, but there are lots of free tools out there too.

If you are paying for subscription-based tools, do some research to see if there are any free tools which offer a similar service. Try the free tools for a while to ensure they provide all the features you need, but you may find that you can save a lot of money by using simpler versions.

Go Remote

While remote working isn’t right for every business, it can offer some great benefits to modern teams. It’s never been easier to communicate from email and video conferencing to online instant messaging. By enabling team members to work from home or premises, which are more convenient for them, you are giving your team more flexibility, which is great for morale.

It could also reduce your overheads as you won’t need to furnish, rent, heat, or cool a workspace. You can set specific weekly meetings when the whole team comes together in a virtual meeting space.

Measure Your Performance

If you are spending chunks of time on specific tasks and you have no way of tracking whether or not the time has resulted in new customers, you need to rethink. This also goes for all the cost-cutting changes you’re about to make. You need to be able to test whether or not what you’re changing is having a positive impact on your business. Marketing teams are well-used to A/B testing, so make changes gradually and only rollout those which are proven to be a success.
